If i surf and use you tube i get hours. Just been onto samsung, they say i have to do a master reset, then get a warranty repair if it doesnt wor. I dont want a warranty repair! When someone from Samsung request additional information on your phone how do you respond back to them? The http address won't work in a browser, a text app won't take it and it won't work as a Email address. Battery could go 2 days without charging when I first got the phone.
Last couple months it's draining very fast. I never had to do anything special to the note 8, for battery performance. As a community Moderator, I would like to collect additional information to pass along to my engineers. I just got the Note 10 yesterday and I've since charged it once after I set it up and once more at night.
This morning when I started using it, I noticed the battery drained pretty quickly. I checked the battery usage and there really isn't a reason for the drain so I'm wondering if that's normal? Should I have let the phone drain to 0 before I charged it the first time to "reset the battery"? I get excellent battery life.
You might have apps in the background running over night. I noticed the PenUp app was still running in the background and using 6. I'm guessing that was it, so I turned the app off. Hopefully that helps it!
Continue to use it and see if you notice any other issues. Any battery failures I've experienced tended to show themselves by the phone shutting down with a significant percentage still left. Thank you! I did have an app running in the background I was unaware of, so that might have contributed to the drop. Your battery stats are impressive for a first time setup. Add to that you haven't even started fine tuning apps to use less battery yet and once you do you will probably have the best battery life we always hope for.
The phone setup process uses a lot of battery and I don't know anyone who can get through it without having to charge the battery an hour or two after it's finished. After that it's another few hours of opening, setting up, testing and closing apps. A couple more hours of that and we have to charge again. That's all normal stuff.I reset my phone and nothing helped. I started completely new after the reset except for contacts, phone calls and texts.
Is there any fix??? The play store app gets updates periodically too. Something is not letting your phone idle properly. Its so weird, I'm still trying to find a fix. I think I might have found a culprit.
Disable voice in bixby settings if you can. I don't really use bixby, so I didn't setup voice function. Also I have seen mobile data to stay active even though it was not needed anymore. Did you update all apps in Play Store and Galaxy Store? I disable voice wake up and I always turn mobile data off when I'm on wifi. All my apps are updated on both stores I'm just not sure what's causing the idle drain.

I hate how att does that they change the phone so much and they even changed the box to one of their cheap att branded box, ridiculous. I hate when a few consumers complain about their issue then Samsung pushes out an update to unaffected phones and leave everyone with a problem. That doesn't work. Cache only clears temporary files and data.
Is anybody experiencing excessive battery drain after the November security patch I'm getting like 4 maybe 5 screen on time compared to like 9 I was getting before. I basically have to keep my phone on the charger for it to make it through the day. I'm experiencing the same thing my battery drains faster on my s10 plus it started around this week I tried turning off all background apps and doing the common things to prevent consuming battery life, but it still drains noticeably fast and takes longer to charge.

Over the past decade, a lot has happened to the most used OS, however, one thing which has always plagued the experience for a lot of users is the random battery drain. While the primary culprit for a random battery drain is a poorly optimized app, there are a lot of other reasons which people tend to ignore.
However, we are here to your rescue and hope to knock down Android OS and Android System in battery sucking stats. Before we jump into the ways to fix this drain, you have to realize that Android OS and Android System is mostly caused by some app or function continuously running in the background and as strange it may seem, the app which is actually responsible would never turn up in the list.
This is because, if Facebook or WhatsApp needs your location details, it will ask Android System for information, hence, the battery consumption. Often, this app keeps waking the device in the background because once you give an app the permission to use location, contacts etc. So, how to fix it? This is probably the most suggested solution for this battery drain. Clearing cache from the stock recovery helps clear any background process which has been in the loop for no reason. To clear cache from stock recovery, you need to first enter the stock recovery through certain button combinations.
If you are not aware, Google Play Services is where most of the things happen on Android. However, a buggy Google Play Services update or behaviour might result in Android System battery drain. Keeping aside few exceptions, most of the time the primary reason for random battery drain is poorly optimized app. Apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. Further, their stubborn behaviour of keeping your device awake in the background results in faster battery drain.
A simple solution? Uninstall these apps if you can live without them or find a less battery sucking alternative. Else, you can deny certain permissions to them and lower their background refresh rate if possible.
Did you know? Android has an option to automatically backup all user settings and passwords on equal intervals. What it does is the next time you login with the same Google account on another device or post factory reset, your settings such as Wi-Fi settings, passwords get restored automatically. Location on, widgets, notifications, etc were enabled. I feel I shouldn't have to yield to or cripple my phone to get decent battery life from it so I refuse to do that on a device that costs this much.
It should just work. Android System is seems to be the drain, but I'm not sure what in there is causing it. The phone is constantly warm. As an experiment, I've put it on airplane mode now with wifi still on and the phone has cooled down but I'm not sure yet if the battery is being drained less or not as it's only been a few minutes.
That is rather unacceptable after it having worked just fine the first several days I've had it. I refuse to disable location and do other seemingly band-aid tricks to help the battery along as I don't feel that really solves the issue and should be unnecessary for a device that costs this much money.
So many settings to go in and manipulate. I hope this resolves itself or I can get to the bottom of it somehow. I really love this phone and really don't want to go back to my iPhone XS Max over a battery issue but it is just unacceptable for the battery to drain like this with little to no actual use of the phone. I apologize if this has been discussed before - I couldn't find anything similar.
EDIT After putting the phone in airplane mode wifi left onit has cooled down and battery drain seems to have improved. According to the battery graph it looks like the phone is also finally going to sleep. Previously the graph went straight down to the right with no flat spots.
What could this be? My cell reception hasn't changed and I'm at wit's end. How much is it next morning? Switching off wifi, Bluetooth etc is useless. These are efficient enough nowadays. I tested these kind of "tricks" and no difference after my nightly sleep test. Sometimes an app like evernote, google foto's or journey is downloading a lot of data in your new phone.

I have more than apps installed. No games however. I am not rooted, but use GSAM battery monitor. The quickest way to see the hourly consumption. Factory reset means a full day work for me. Even using Google and Samsung restore. I charge it overnight while I'm sleeping.
